Comments Off on Congratulations to Scott Malisko, the new Vice President at Slovenian!

Scott Malisko has been promoted to Slovenian Savings & Loan’s new Vice President! Born and raised in Windber, Scott is a 1997 graduate of Windber High School. He began his career in banking as a teller in 2001, while still working on his business degree at Penn State-Altoona. In 2004 he became the Branch Manager at our Windber branch.

“I’m grateful for all the opportunities that the Association has provided to me over the years,” Scott says. “Not too many people are lucky enough to live two blocks from where they were born, work in the same town, see their family each day and give back to a community that has shaped who they are as an individual throughout life.”

Scott completed an MBA at St. Francis University in 2012.

When not working, Scott enjoys the outdoors, running, listening to music, and spending time with his family and his two labradors – and most of all, being with his wife, Candace, who is his high school sweetheart and best friend.

  3. Congratulations to Tina Knepper, who has been promoted to Assistant Compliance Officer!

Comments Off on Congratulations to Tina Knepper, who has been promoted to Assistant Compliance Officer!

Tina Knepper has been promoted to Assistant Compliance Officer at Slovenian! Back in 1989, Tina’s typing teacher, Mr. John Milavec, sent her to Slovenian in her senior year at Conemaugh Valley High School to fill a part-time filing position. After two years, she became a teller at the Conemaugh branch. In 2012, she transferred to the Moxham branch, where she served as head teller before this promotion.

“Slovenian has been good to me over the years – they are a family-first type of institution from the board to management at each office, and fellow employees,” Tina says. “Slovenian cares about their customers and the communities where each office is based. They stay involved and give back.”

Tina, who marks 32 years with Slovenian this September, has been married for almost 28 years to her husband, David. The couple resides in East Taylor Township, and have two adult daughters who live locally.

  4. Congratulations to Melissa Sarlouis, who has been promoted to Moxham Branch Manager and Chief Compliance Officer!

Comments Off on Congratulations to Melissa Sarlouis, who has been promoted to Moxham Branch Manager and Chief Compliance Officer!

Slovenian Savings & Loan is delighted to announce that Melissa Sarlouis has been promoted to Branch Manager for our Moxham location, as well as Chief Compliance Officer.

Melissa’s career with us began back in 1991, when she was recommended for a part-time position by her Conemaugh Valley High School teacher, John A. Milavec.

“I would go to school half a day and then work half a day,” she remembers. “My first job at Slovenian was filing all the canceled checks and processing the statements to be mailed.”

She became a full-time teller soon after her 1992 graduation. Sarlouis, who also holds an associate’s degree from Cambria County Area Community College, was promoted to Assistant Compliance Officer in 2006.

“I have literally grown up with these people and so have many of my co-workers,” she says. “We know our customers, and we know their families. I am proud when I say where I work and I hear someone say that they, their parents, or even their grandparents got their first loan with Slovenian.”

Melissa is the youngest of the three children of Gary and Eilene Sarlouis. She resides with Tiger Strank and three rescue cats in Cover Hill. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoys camping, fishing, kayaking, and side by side riding in her free time.

  5. We’re hiring! Slovenian is looking for part-time tellers for our Richland branch

Comments Off on We’re hiring! Slovenian is looking for part-time tellers for our Richland branch

Our small but growing financial institution needs detail-oriented part-time Tellers to join our exemplary staff. We’re looking for self-starters who can take the initiative when responding to customer concerns and complaints. The ideal candidate will have a friendly personality and a head for numbers. They should understand the roles that financial institutions serve in the community and have a customer-focused attitude. We promote from within, so potential career paths could include the possibility of becoming a full-time Teller which could lead into personal banking, lending and other department positions within the Association.

Interested? Send your resume to us at support@slovenian.com, drop off your resume at the Richland branch (95 Hostetler Road), or apply through Indeed.
